Yay my porch is almost done! I just need to prime and paint it (yeah I know, good luck with the weather on that). My house is in South Park and was built in 1906. Last summer I was inspired by a picture of the house from the 1930s to rip off the terrible siding and ghettobrick underneath. Back in the day there was no railing on the porch and it looked much better without the solid enclosure around it. Later, of course, I learned that legally I need a railing due to the height of the porch.
Shortly after I demolished the siding and railing on the porch I realized that dealing with the solid hard wood pillars and the rotten plywood over the original floor would be way too much for me. I called in the troops (ok, a scooter friend who has a contracting business).
I couldn't figure out how to reorder the pictures. The ones where you can see white siding or Insulbrick are the "before" pictures.
Damn, it took me this long to figure out that I should sign up for Flexcar so I can use trucks to haul the goddamn broke ass scooters and motorcycles around....sheesh. It beats buying a truck by far. Yup, there are highs and there are lows that go with this new-old Vespa. Right now its a low...new battery, rebuilt carb, rebuilt engine (!!!). It still doesn't want to start. I'm running out of things to fix. Granted, it still needed all the above and more, it seems. Maybe now a stator or some part in the ignition? Oh, and new plug, in case you were wondering. That little bastard better be running by Amerivespa. Beyond the carb work its all pretty much beyond my realm of knowledge, though I am learning.
I got a new job at my old work. I took some classes over the winter at the UW extension for software testing and applied for one of the QA jobs that opened up recently. Sweet! Already I feel more relaxed. Working on the systems side of things was pretty stressful and I hated being on call for years upon years (well, it seemed like that, it was more like 2.5 years).
I shot this in Japan. It is Last Target at The Shelter in Tokyo on Sunday night. I love these guys, they were the ones that drove us around and made sure that we didn't wander off too far. They are really really nice people.
I'm kind of annoyed that YouTube totally made this video look like crap with their automatic quality reduction. Lamers.
I am in Osaka, Japan. Immigration wouldn`t let Steve in. He flew home yesterday. They put him in a hotel with a guard- hardened criminal that he is.
I`m hanging out with Youth Brigade and The Briefs (minus Steve). One of the Youth Brigade guys almost was arrested yesterday night for drunken debauchery. They stare at you when you walk around...a gang of leather clad white punk rockers. It doesn`t help when you are kicking garbage cans around and yelling. Walking around the streets here I have never seen so many hipsters in my life.
Today is my birthday. Kicks bought me a egg mcmuffin with no ham and it strangely tasted very good.
I made a drawing with no beef, no fish, no poultry, no ham and some happy vegetables, cheese, and egg. It is hard in Japan for a vegetarian. I keep buying things that look veggie but have mystery meat in them. I`ll live but it is strange.
That is all. I`m just hanging out waiting for the Sterns to come down. I out waiting for the Sterns to come down. I`m hung over but I KNOW they are seriously hurtin`.
